Port Quendall encompasses a 68-acre
site on the southeastern shore of Lake Washington. Once
home to a coal tar refinery and creosote plant, the
site is contaminated and in need of clean-up. The City's
goal is to seek a public-private partnership to clean
up the site and redevelop the land. The project will
improve the environmental and economic climate of Renton,
improve water quality and habitat and bring back to
life a beautiful site. Port Quendall will also attract
livable wage jobs, diversify Renton's economic base
and provide a lakefront trail and park along the shore
of Lake Washington.
