A new waterfront neighborhood
Southport is a mixed-use development being built on 17.5 acres
along the shore of Lake Washington, between Gene Coulon Memorial
Beach Park and the Boeing Renton Plant. Southport's premier
location, off I-405 along Lake Washington Boulevard, provides
easy access to downtown Renton, Bellevue and the Greater Eastside,
the airports and downtown Seattle.
Current plans for Southport include 750,000
square feet of Class A office space in three, nine-story towers,
a boutique hotel, 391 residential units, shops and restaurants-all
along a lakefront promenade. Southport offers expansive, shore-to-shore
views of the lake, the Seattle skyline, the Olympic Mountains
and Mt. Rainier.

Working together, Wright Runstad &
Company and Equity Office are developing the Class A office
portion of the project. Wright Runstad & Company is one
of the premier developers of commercial office properties
in the Pacific Northwest. Equity Office is the nation's largest
real estate investment trust (REIT). Bellevue-based SECO Development
is developing the mixed-use portions of Southport.

In a deal that observers say validates the health of
the Renton office market, HAL Real Estate Investments
recently bought eight buildings from Unico Properties,
Inc. for $83.2 million.
"Renton hasn't always been such a desirable location
for office tenants. The City had the second-highest
office-vacancy rate in the nation in the early 1990's.
It's gone from one of the most beleaguered markets in
the nation to one of the very healthiest. The Buildings
have appreciated in value the way all properties in
the Renton market have." Quentin Kuhrau,
Senior Vice President, Unico Properties
