Bordered by I-405
to the west, the City of Newcastle to the north and
Maple Valley Highway to the south, Northeast Renton
is experiencing a population explosion. Hundreds of
new homes are being built in the Highlands and in the
NE 3rd/4th Street corridor each year. Originally developed
as a housing community for Boeing workers during World
War II, the Highlands and East Plateau are now home
to a wide-range of people who work in Renton, Seattle,
Bellevue and the Greater Eastside. The area offers easy
access to I-405 and I-90. Bellevue can be also accessed
via Coal Creek Parkway, Issaquah via SR 900. While several
new neighborhood shopping centers have been built in
recent years, other areas are ripe for redevelopment.
